About Us

History

Founded in 2020 as an evolution of the Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences, our Faculty encompasses a diverse array of disciplines. With eight departments, including both longstanding pillars and dynamic additions, we provide a comprehensive foundation for clinical education and practice. Our established departments include Medical Microbiology and Parasitology, Chemical Pathology and Immunology, Morbid Anatomy and Histopathology, Hematology and Blood Transfusion, and Pharmacology and Therapeutics. Recently added departments encompass Physiotherapy, Medical Laboratory Sciences, and Medical Radiography. Our journey toward excellence has been marked by significant milestones, including the recent transition to a modern, purpose-built facility adjacent to the Provost Office in April 2023. While our administrative hub and faculty offices now reside in this new edifice, the proximity of the old college to the Teaching Hospital ensures that our lecture rooms and student laboratories remain conveniently accessible to our learners.

At the core of our mission lies a commitment to fostering a culture of lifelong learning and research excellence. In addition to our robust undergraduate programs, which lay the foundation for future healthcare professionals, we offer a comprehensive suite of postgraduate opportunities. These include MSc and PhD programs in established fields such as Medical Microbiology and Parasitology and Pharmacology and Therapeutics, as well as innovative offerings in emerging disciplines like Hematology and Blood Transfusion, Chemical Pathology and Immunology, and Morbid Anatomy and Histopathology. Furthermore, our collaborative partnerships extend beyond our Faculty, as we actively contribute to undergraduate courses within the Nursing department, enriching the educational experience of students across disciplines.
